Abstract

191,531. Hayes, H. H. Nov. 9, 1921. Steam-pressure sprayers; nozzles for producing whirling sprays.-A liquid-fuel atomizing burner comprises a steam-expanding nozzle C carried by a supply tube J, an oil heating chamber H surrounding the nozzle C and tube J, and a burner nozzle F screwed on the steam nozzle C. Oil passes from the chamber H through inclined passages E on the steam-expanding nozzle and enters the steam jet when the steam is at its maximum velocity. The swirling mixture then passes through a restricted passage K in the burner nozzle F and mixes with air drawn in through inclined passages G. The oil and air inlets B, A to the chamber H and tube J are controlled by valves which may be embodied as part of the burner.
