Abstract
185,184. Davies, J. May 26, 1921. Air, gas, and steam pressure sprayers.-In an oil-fuel atomizing-burner of the type comprising three concentric passages, oil issuing from the middle passage is atomized by two jets of air, steam or other atomizing agent from the outer and central passages meeting at an obtuse angle. In the burner shown the concentric passages k, g, m are formed between and by a two-part tubular casing a and two concentric tubes c, d. Air or steam is supplied to an annular chamber h at the rear of the casing a and the passage k issues at the nozzle orifice b at right-angles to the axis of the casing between a cap a<1> on the casing a and a hollow cone c<1> on the tube c. Air or steam supplied to an annular chamber issues in an annular jet between a cone l and a hollow cone d<1> at the end of the tube d to meet the jet from the passage k at an obtuse angle. The fuel oil is supplied to the middle passage g through a chamber e in the casing a and issues between the cones c<1>, d' into the impacting air or steam jets. The tube d is adjustable to regulate the oil supply by means of a hand-wheel S keyed to an internally-threaded boss r engaging between a cap t and a gland p. The oil in the passage g may be partially broken up and gasefied by air or steam entering from the passage m through vents n in the tube d.
