Abstract
224,911. Adams, H. Nov. 16, 1923, [Convention date]. Spray and pulverulent fuel burners. - An atomizing nozzle for use in a liquid or powdered fuel burner comprises an expanding superheated steam or compressed air supply casing 1 provided at its discharge end with a flange 5 and fitted with a conical baffle 13. The fuel supplied under pressure through a pipe or pipes 7 to an annular port 10 formed in a distributor ring 9 attached to the flange 5 issues through radial jets 12 into the expanding steam jets passing between radial spacing lugs 14 on the baffle 13. The partially-atomized fuel then impinges on a sharpedged grooved surface 16 provided on a disc 15 preferably formed integrally with the baffle 13 and is further atomized on rebounding into the steam jets which carry it to the burners for combustion.
