Abstract

Spray burners.-In an apparatus for generating steam and combustion products under pressure, oil mixed with air under pressure in a cone 3 is ignited in a chamber 7 and the products pass through a combustion space 15 into a diverging chamber containing water distributing screens 16. The smaller end of the cone opens into the smaller end of an air supply cone 9. Oil is supplied by way of a pipe 11 to an annular space 10 around the junction of the cones and passes through inclined orifices into the stream of air passing through the junction. Air also passes into the cone 3 through slots 5 formed at their sides with tangential blades. The oil is supplied by a pump 24 through a spring loaded valve 25 allowing excess oil to return to the suction through a pipe 26. At starting, spirit is supplied to the cones from a tank 27 through a pipe 29.
