Abstract

258,657. Knudsen, H. June 23, 1925. Spray burners; liquid fuel supply.-In a burner of the type in which the liquid fuel issues from an annular space 4 surrounding a jet 1 and is atomized by compressed air issuing from the jet 1 and an annular space 8 surrounding the space 4, superheated steam generated in a coil 16 by the heat of the flames is conveyed through a spring-loaded valve 21 to an annular chamber 22 in the burner fitting 7 and is injected into the flame through a series of apertures 23. The water supply to the coil 16 is regulated by an adjustable valve 19. The space 4 is formed between the jet 1 and a tube 3 having a contracted forward end and the space 8 is formed between the tube 3 and the fitting 7 which is shaped so as to direct the compressed air inwardly. The annular spaces 4, 8 may contain steam coils 5, 9 for heating the oil and compressed air. The burner is particularly suitable for use in the steam generator described in Specification 262,836.
