Abstract

207,365. Brettell, F. G., (Winslow Boiler & Engineering Co.). Nov. 11, 1922. Spray burners; vaporizing-apparatus. - A liquid fuel burner for use with a steam generator &c. comprises a combustion chamber or fire-pot 17 having inclined rear and side walls 19, 20 and a circular flame discharge openmg 21, diverging conduits 13, 14 delivering air from a blower 11 in two lateral streams to the fire-pot, a fuel supply nozzle 25, and a perforated distributing plate 26 arranged near the bottom of the fire-pot and heated by a gas or other pilot 29. The oil is partially atomized and vaporized by contact with the plate 26 and mixes with the swirling air currents to form a mist which is ignited by the pilot flame. A drain plug 30 is provided in the bottom of the fire-pot.
