Abstract

584,816. Vapour burners. MARTIRI, R. Nov. 16, 1944, No. 22706. [Class 75 (i)] Paraffin or other hydrocarbon fuel supplied at low pressure by gravity from a reservoir 2 to a vaporizing tube 3, which is partially filled with rolled metal gauze 4 and is heated by the flame from small apertures 15 in an auxiliary burner tube 14, passes from a gas chamber 5 at the end of the tube 3 through a connection 16 to a second gas chamber 17 which is also heated by the burner 14 and carries several nozzles 18 each controlled by a needle-valve 22 and delivering into the mixing chamber 25 of a burner head 26. The auxiliary burner 14 is supplied with vapour through a nozzle 6 on the tube 3 controlled by a needle valve 10. The tube 3 is heated at starting by burning spirit in a small container 31 provided with a supply trough 32. The air passing to the mixing chamber 25 may be supplied through a tube 29 and enclosure 28 heated by the burner 14. The nozzles of the main and auxiliary burners may be of high thermal capacity to ensure gasification of the fuel.
