671,555. Liquid-fuel burners; electrically igniting burners. BERGER, G. J. O. WELIN-. Jan. 17, 1950 [Aug. 5, 1949], No. 1254/50. Classes 75(i) and 75(iii) A liquid-fuel burner of the perforated shell type is provided with a fuel preheating device comprising a U-tube 4, through which liquid fuel is supplied to an annular fuel distributing chamber 5, and which is located in proximity to an electric heating element 14, liquid fuel being passed through the U-tube 4 from a supply tube 1 to an annular distributing chamber 5 from which the vapour is emitted through apertures 6 to be ignited by a filament 16 in series with the element 14. The filament 16 is connected by a wire 20 to earth through the inner shell 9. After combustion has been established the electric supply to the element 14 and filament 16 is interrupted either manually or by thermostatic control means.
