Abstract

943,098. Stoves. H. MILLER. Dec. 6, 1961 [Jan. 25, 1961; Sept. 19, 1961], Nos. 2860/61 and 33429/61. Heading F4W. In a space heater comprising a shell 1 mounted on legs 2 and having louvres 4, a removable lid 6 and an air-gas ring burner 5 arranged inside the lower end of the shell, the burner is ignited by a pilot light, the ignition of the pilot light actuating a thermo-couple to open the supply of gas to the burner through a flame failure valve 7. As shown, the burner is supplied with air-gas mixture from pipe 10 through a flame failure valve 7 passing horizontally for ignition through a metal mesh 8. The burner is ignited by a pilot light from a tube 11 containing a filament 11b which when heated by the passage of gas ignites the pilot light. The ignition of the pilot light actuates a thermal-couple which opens valve 7 which remains open until the pilot light is extinguished. A sleeve 12 is provided to protect the filament 11b. In use the products of combustion rise and escape through louvres 4. the first Provisional Specification refers to a tapered flame spreader situated above the burner.
