Abstract

1,195,918. Extinguishing wick burners. ALADDIN INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 April, 1969 [17 April, 1968], No. 18152/68. Heading F4T. An extinguishing member 7 in the form of a ring supported by a spider is slidably mounted above and coaxial with the annular wick 1 of a liquid-fuel-burning heater and supported on a rod 14 extending between the extinguishing member and the ground, a spring 16 urging the rod downward, so that on overturning of the heater the rod and extinguishing member move downward into engagement with the top of the wick. The extinguishing member is guided by a rod 4 mounted in the chimney of the heater, which may be opened for lighting the burner, a lug on the extinguishing member then disengaging from a hook at the upper end of rod 14. Lifting the heater by its handle (not shown) engages rod 4 and thus prevents extinction of the flame.
