Abstract

1,043,498. Radiant burners. ANTARGAZ S.A. DE DISTRIBUTION DE GAZ LIQUIDES DE PETROLE. July 9, 1965 [July 11, 1964], No. 29244/65. Heading F4T. A radiant gas burner having a perforated radiant plate 5, Fig. 1, (not shown), has a thermocouple 10 located in a chamber 9 separated from the outer surface of the radiant plate 5 by a perforated plate 7 which is more prone to backfiring than the radiant plate 5. If the flame back-fires into the chamber 9 the thermocouple 10 closes an electromagnetic fuel valve 1 supplying the burner. The perforated plate 7 may be made of material of greater heat conductivity than the radiant plate 5 or it may have passages of larger cross-section than the passages in the radiant plate 5. A further thermocouple 11 is disposed outside the radiant plate 5 and generates a current which holds the fuel valve 1 open. The two thermocouples oppose each other. The chamber 9 may be disposed within or below the radiant plate 5.
