Abstract

1,214,140. Plasma cutting. ZENTRALINSTITUT FUR SCHWEISSTECHNIK DER DEUTSCHEN DEMOKRATISCHEN REPUBLIK. 17 Jan., 1968, No. 28381/70. Heading B3V. [Also in Divisions H3-H5] A plasma cutting jet 1 is conformed by causing a heating flame 2, produced by burning a liquid or gaseous fuel, to annularly envelope the plasma jet 1 or to be disposed laterally thereof in order to inhibit mixing of the jet 1 with surrounding air or gas. The heating flame may be arranged such that a more intense part is directed behind the plasma jet 1 in the cutting direction. An additional heating flame may be generated by an additional burner directed into the cutting groove behind the cutting jet 1.
