An additional nozzle 10 below nozzle 6 feeds hydrocarbon fuel which after impinging on a wall 11 flows from a horizontal slot 9 below slot 7. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the slot 7 is replaced by a wave shaped slot 7a.
