Abstract

1388628 Atmospheric burners JOHN ZINK CO 8 May 1972 [12 May 1971] 21286/72 Heading F4T [Also in Division F1] An atmospheric burner comprises a fuel supply tube discharging fuel at an orifice 34 into a coaxial burner tube 50 to draw air 78 into an inlet and mixing section 52 of tube 50; the tube 50 further including a parallel bore throat section 54 of internal diameter D, a first expansion section 56 having a conical bore of length about 1À5D and included angle of about 8 degrees, and a second expansion section 58 having a conical bore of length about 2D and included angle about 16 degrees; and an outlet section 68. The section 68 may be welded to a tube 66 fitted on to cylindrical shoulders 62, 64 on the burner tube 50. The outlet diameter D2 of section 58 may be about twice the throat diameter D. The inlet section 52 may have a smoothly curved or a conically tapered upstream-to-downstream profile. The tube 50 may be formed in one piece of cast iron.
