Abstract

1464461 Burners SMIT NIJMEGEN BV 18 April 1974 [21 April 1973] 17145/74 Heading F4T A burner for stoichiometrically burning a liquid fuel comprises an atomizing head 10 containing a fuel nozzle 1, an atomizing channel 2 coaxial with the head, and ducts 3 for tangentially discharging the atomizing medium into the channel, a shell 11 surrounding the nozzle and having a reduced diameter burner mouth 13, formed by a conical portion whose angle α is between 20 and 50 degrees and whose crosssectional area is 10% less than that of the shell prior to such reduction. A spark plug 18 is fitted in the shell, and an observation window 17, flame monitor 14, and supply pipes 20, 21 for fuel and atomizing air, are provided. The atomizing air, or steam, inert gas, or natural gas, is taken to ducts 3 through an annular channel 9.
