Abstract

1380308 Burner head FINTERM SpA GRUPPO FINANZIARIO TERMICO 16 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 7179/72 Heading F4T A combustion head of a burner comprises an air supply pipe 1 coaxially surrounding a fuel pipe 2 which terminates in a spray nozzle 3, and a cup 4 surrounding the spray nozzle 3 which is coaxial with an ejector device through which air from the supply pipe 1 flows to induce a low pressure externally of the cup 4 to cause recirculation of a portion of the burnt gases to the combustion zone. The ejector device may comprise an annular member 9 spaced from a tapered end 8 of the air supply pipe 1 to define an annular aperture B through which the recirculatory burnt gases may flow, or it may be a tubular extension (10) (Fig. 2, not shown) of the air supply pipe 1 with at least one aperture (11) in the extension (10) through which recirculatory burnt gases may flow. The cup 4 causes, via the Coanda effect, a deflection in the upstream direction of some of the recirculatory gas and promotes mixing of the reagents and stabilization of the flame. Holes 7 in the cup 4 ensure that air passing through them prevents unburnt fuel from depositing in the cup 4.
