Abstract
1,258,950. Burners. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN N.V. 29 Dec., 1969 [3 Jan., 1969], No. 63016/69. Heading F4T. A self air aspirating burner for gaseous or liquid fuel comprises a supply tube 1 for fuel terminating in an injection or spray orifice 2, a substantially cylindrical metal flame guide body 3 having an air inlet at one end coaxially within which end is positioned the orifice 2 to give the air inlet an annular form, and a substantially cylindrical body 4 of larger diameter than the flame guide body 3 and positioned therearound over substantially the entire length of the flame guide body 3 to form an annular channel for the supply of combustion air which is preheated in the channel, the body 4 being connected to the supply tube 1 by an end plate 6 at some distance from the upstream end of the flame guide body 3. As shown, a further substantially cylindrical body 5 surrounds the body 4 and is connected thereto by distance members 8 to provide an outer channel for the supply of combustion air, the body 5 also being connected to the downstream end of the flame guide body 3 by an end plate 7. In Fig. 2, which is particularly for liquid fuel, is shown a supply duct 9 for fuel atomizing air opening into the supply duct 1 upstream of the orifice 2: the supply duct 9 includes a helically coiled duct part 10 within the flame guide body 3 so that in use, the atomizing air is preheated.
