Abstract
1,109,481. Coating by flame spraying. BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd. 9 Oct., 1964 [11 Oct., 1963], No. 40245/63. Heading B2F. Powdered material is flame sprayed by a burner supplied separately with h.p. oxidising gas, fuel gas and powder carried by an oxidising gas at a lower pressure than the h.p. gas. The apparatus shown comprises a powder dispenser 1 and a burner 2 having a nozzle 21 with three concentric tubes and a combustion chamber both being water cooled. Powder in the dispenser rests on a porous disc 6 and is maintained in a fluidised state by oxygen at 5 p.s.i. supplied through pipe 8 and is drawn up through pipe 14 by oxygen supplied at 60- 80 p.s.i. to an injector 15 before being carried to the inner most tube 22 of the nozzle, the flow 6f powder being regulated by adjustment of the pressure within the dispenser between 2-10 p.s.i. indicated by gauge 19. Propane is supplied through tube 23 of the nozzle and the main oxygen supply (75-95%) to the outer tube 28. at 50-100 p.s.i. supplied from a source 11 at 2000 p.s.i.; pressure reducing valves, flow meters being in the various gas circuits.
