A vapour burner comprises an annular vaporizer 2 disposed within an outer casing 12 and a flame regulating device adapted to direct either the whole of the flame from nozzles 10, 11 through the central passage 3 of the vaporizer or a part only of the flame therethrough and another part through the annular space 15 between the vaporizer and the outer casing 12. In the burner shown the flame regulating device consists of a cylindrical member 4 which is movable from the dotted line position to the full line position, the latter position permitting part of the flame to pass through the annular space 15. In another construction the cylindrical member 4 is movable between the nozzles and the vaporizer but does not enter the vaporizer central passage 3. Instead of the cylindrical member the burner may have a nozzle from which the fuel can be sprayed at different spray angles or the burner may have a plurality of nozzles disposed at different distances from the vaporizer and selectively operated. The air supply to the burner is controlled by an adjustable disc 22 co-operating with arcuate slots 20 in the outer casing 12.
