Abstract

1,032,381. Gas burners. GAS COUNCIL. Dec. 31, 1964 [Jan. 1, 1964], No. 122/64. Heading F4F. A gas burner has a passage or chamber 37 leading to an opening 43 near a burner orifice 40 and containing a permanently burning igniter jet 47. The burner has an annular body 36 fed with gas/air mixture by a pipe 39 and a hole 46 in the wall of the body supplies mixture to the chamber 37. The jet 47 ignites the mixture and the flame passes through the opening 43 to ignite the burner orifices 40. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the igniter jet 55 is located in a hole 53 in the burner body disposed above a small burner outlet slot 54. The hole 53 is not supplied with mixture. In a third embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the igniter jet is disposed in a slot 60 disposed in the top surface of the burner and covered by a cap 62.
