Abstract

910,527. Gas burners. CALOR GAS (DISTRIBUTING) CO. Ltd. June 30, 1960 [April 2, 1959], No. 11207/59. Class 75 (3). A gas torch for igniting oil burners comprises a pilot flame combustion tube 2 supplied with a gas/air mixture from a mixing chamber 12, a sparking-plug 3 for igniting the mixture and a nozzle 11 supplied with pure gas and ignited by the pilot flame. Gas is supplied through a jet 9 and air through a jet 8 to the mixing chamber 12. The electrode 4 of the sparking-plug 3 extends through the combustion tube 2 and terminates adjacent a flameretaining insert 5 in the combustion tube. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the tube supplying the pure gas to the nozzle 11 is disposed inside the combustion tube 2.
