Abstract
641,277. Liquid-fuel burners. BORDE, J. Dec. 31, 1947, No. 35245. Convention date, April 11, 1946. [Class 75(i)] An adjustable burner for liquid fuel comprises a main fuel container 9, Fig. 3, into which opens a carburettor jet body 7, and a carburettor case 15 having a jet adjusting pin 6 projecting into the jet orifice 1, Fig. 1, the pin 6 being provided with a coned part 8 which co-operates with the orifice 1 to regulate or close the jet. The pin 6 is carried by a dished part 5 which serves as a flame-trap and is fastened by resilient arms 4 to the wall of the case 15; and an excessive vapour pressure in the container 9 acts on the conical part 8 to press the pin 6 upwardly against the pressure of the resiliently mounted part 5, thus enlarging the jet orifice 1 and allowing the escape of the excess gas. The case 15 is screwed upon the jet 7 so that the pin 6 may be adjusted axially. To facilitate starting an auxiliary chamber 10 is loosely mounted in the fuel chamber 9 beneath the jet so that the liquid in the vicinity of the jet body 7 may become vaporized more rapidly when the part of the body 7 outside the chamber 9 is heated as by a lighted match.
