[Class 75 (iii)] In a pocket lighter of the type in which a vaporising chamber supplied by a jet wick is provided with a small orifice from which a jet of fuel vapour flows when the vaporising chamber is heated by the flame of an ordinary wick ignited by sparks from a flint the jet wick and the ordinary wick both receive fuel from a common fuel compartment and the jet wick is mounted in an elongated jet tube leading from the fuel compartment and co-operates with the jet tube to resist the transfer of pressure from the vaporising chamber to the fuel compartment. A jet tube 11 is bent at 20, 21, 22, 26 as shown and encloses a snugly seating jet wick 23 which extends at the inner open end of the jet tube into a fuel compartment supplying an ordinary wick 12 and has its other end positioned inward of the outer end of the jet tube. A removable thimble 28 having a jet orifice 30 fits tightly on to the tapered outer end of the jet tube, thereby providing at the end of the wick 23 a gas chamber 32 which can be heated by the flame of the ordinary wick 12 ignited by sparks from a friction wheel 19 and a flint 13. The bottom of the main fuel compartment is closed by a removable plate 33 having an aperture through which a filling screw 37 passes to engage a screw threaded opening in a web 39 extending across the bottom of the fuel compartment, a gasket 35 providing a leakproof joint.
