Abstract

620,057. Liquid-fuel burners. PETIT. P. L. F. J. Aug. 26, 1946, No. 25519. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1944. [Class 75(i)] In a liquid-fuel burner of the " invertedflame " type comprising a recessed vaporizing block 2, Fig. 1, or shallow tray 8, Fig. 3. arranged in air channels 1, 1a respectively, through which air is blown under pressure, a thin metal plate 5 is seated above the vaporizing recess 3 or pan 8 is provided with perforations and/or slots 6 to supply air to the vapour escaping between the plate and block or pan. A richly carburetted zone is thereby produced, the ignition of which produces a small blue flame which is sheltered and stabilized by proximity to the plate and which ensures continuous ignition of the main flame.
