Abstract
1424191 Liquid fuel burner DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 22 March 1973 [15 Jan 1972] 2050/72 Heading F4T A liquid fuel burner has a body portion 1, 2 disposed about a longitudinal axis, an annular recess 4 forming a fluid mixing and discharge chamber and providing an annular outlet, the chamber 4 being inclined to said longitudinal axis and defined between two frusto-conical surfaces with axes of symmetry coincident with said axis, liquid fuel being supplied to chamber 4 via first inlet portings thereto, such as 5 or 6, from a supply passage, such as 7, and a second fluid being supplied to chamber 4 via second inlet portings thereto, such as 6 or 5 respectively, from a second supply passage to atomize the fuel in chamber 4, the first and second inlet portings being inclined to said axis and tangential to the periphery of chamber 4. The chamber 4 may be convergent or divergent relative to said axis in the downstream direction, and the fuel and atomizing fluid inlet portings may be skewed, in the same or opposite senses to one another, relative to said axis. In a modification, the fuel is supplied to chamber 4 via both sets of illustrated portings 5, 6 and the atomizing fluid passes to chamber 4 via a third set of skewed and tangential portings (not shown) located between portings 5 and 6.
