Abstract

1,213,788. Spray burners. JOHN ZINK CO. 3 March, 1969 [18 March, 1968], No. 11192/69. Heading F4T. A liquid fuel burner spray nozzle includes a hollow tip member 10 with a generally cylindrical inner surface 16 and divergent discharge ports 17, and a fuel pipe 21 with an enlarged head 23 having radially disposed ports 28 terminating flush with flat exterior surfaces 26 of the head, the member 10 being screwed into a conduit 14 through which an atomizing agent such as steam is delivered. The members 10, 21 form an annular passage 22 for the steam and the enlarged head 23 provides with member 10 zones 31 of restricted flow space where the steam is accelerated and provides a pressure drop in the vicinity of the ports 28 to spread the fuel along the surface 16 where it forms an emulsion with the steam and is then discharged from the ports 17.
