Abstract

1517005 Liquid-fuel burners BABCOCK & WILCOX CO 10 Oct 1975 [10 Oct 1974] 41570/75 Heading F4T An atomized liquid fuel burner comprises conduits 36 arranged in a circular array and connected to a source of atomizing fluid 22 and a fuel duct 26 extending through the array, the fuel passing through the outlet 41 of the duct through a curved path to discharge laterally into the atomizing fluid discharging from the conduits. The curved outlet is provided by an axially adjustable deflector 60. Pressurized oil fuel is supplied to passage 20 and flows through bore 36 up to head 62 of the deflector where it is turned through 90 degrees to discharge into the path of steam which is supplied to conduits 36 from a chamber 22 through a passage 28. The atomized fuel is discharged into passage 49 to be further atomized due to pressure and velocity change, and thence through openings 58 in spray cap 18. After axial adjustment of deflector 60 to obtained the required outlet area 70, the deflector is welded at 80, or in a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a lock nut (82) is tightened.
