Open-tray burners.-In a liquid-fuel burner of the open-pan type, air for combustion is supplied by the action of steam generated by the heat of the burner flame. Oil at constant level is supplied to a pan a, supported on a shell b, by means of a supply pipe d and an overflow pipe f. The steam generator consists of a coil g connected to an injector controlled by a needle k arranged in a tube c passing through the bottom of the shell b. Air is drawn by the injector into the tube c at the inlets o and the mixture is heated in the space between the pan a and the shell b before issuing by inlets n on to the surface of the burning fuel.
