Abstract

Pulverulent-fuel furnaces. - An apparatus for heating Lancashire and like boilers comprises a gasifying chamber b, to which powdered fuel, air, and steam are supplied by a burner c and injector g, an ignition chamber or zone m, in which the gasification of the fuel is completed and partial combustion effected, a main combustion chamber or zone o supplied with secondary air through the port n, a slag-collecting extension p, a grate h at the lower part of the chamber b for burning any deposited particles of fuel, and an injector j for supplying steam and air beneath the grate. The secondary air may be preheated in passages s around the combustion chamber, and cold air may be supplied to the upper part of the chamber b through the port u. Steam may be supplied with the fuel and air mixture through the pipe e. Specification 246 ,681 is referred to.
