Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the amount of heat transmitted to radiation and to enable the adjustment of the length of a flame in the furnace such as glass melting oven using a gas pressure spray burner by a method wherein a liquid fuel is atomized by a gas fuel and the ratio of combustion between the liquid and gas fuels is controlled properly.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid fuel is atomized by the gas fuel. A mixture of the both fuel is burned. The mixture to be supplied to the furnace is adjusted in the ratio of combustion between the liquid and gas fuels, for example, in the gas addition ratio set within a range from 20W60%. In the combustion, the gas fuel is injected toward an atomizing passage 4 through gas passages 33 and 35 out of a gas injection port 8. On the other hand, the liquid fuel injected toward the atomizing passage 4, out of a nozzle hole 6 is atomized into fine particles in the passage 4, and then injected out of a flame port 3 to be burned. The atomization of the liquid fuel is promoted by the combustion of the gas fuel, so that a good combustion is obtained without generating unfavorite long flames. Accordingly, the radiation calory from the flames is increased and further a high pressure air of a relatively low temperature and steam do not enter the oven, thereby improving the thermal efficiency of the furnace.
