Spray burners; liquid fuel supply.-A burner apparatus or heat generator comprises a blower 3, Fig. 2 supplying air through a pipe 10 passing through the furnace to a carburettor 4 which is connected by a pipe 12 to the burner nozzle 5, the float chamber, well, and intermediate passages being maintained at the same pressure as the pressure in the pipe 10 by a pipe connection 11. The liquid fuel is supplied to the carburettor 4 from a reservoir 1 by a pump 2. The flame burner nozzle 5, Fig. 3, is welded at several points 17 to a sheath 16 carrying a spark plug 7 projecting into the nozzle for ignition purposes. Air entering through ports 13 in the burner flange 14 passes through ports 15<1> and around the mouth of the nozzle 5 to the flamewhich burns beyond the nozzle. Two or more safety fire screens 18 are provided between the carburettor and the nozzle. A primer 6 comprising a fuel supply pipe 20 controlled by a needle 22 may be provided for spraying fuel on to one screen 18 located at the base of the nozzle for obtaining a rich mixture at starting. The nozzle and sheath are tilted slightly to cause condensed fuel to draw away and become ignited. In a modified apparatus the blower 3 is arranged between the carburettor 4 and nozzle 5.
