Abstract
630,828 Liquid-fuel burners. HODGKISS,. S. J. Nov. 8, 1947, No. 29812. [Class 75(i)] An oil burner comprises an outer tube or casing A for supplying atomizing air or steam, and an inner tube C preferably concentric with the tube A, the end B of the tube A being dished and closed except for a central aperture b, and the end of the tube C being contracted and of tapered or conical shape and projecting through the aperture b, a narrow annular space being left between the edge of the aperture b and the outer surface of the tapered or conical end of the tube C, and a nozzle or jet D arranged in the end of the tube C having an axial passage d for the oil and connected by a lateral passage d<SP>1</SP> to the outer tube A. Compressed air or steam passes' into the nozzle D through the passage d' and atomizes the oil passing through the passage d and further atomization is effected by the air or steam passing through the annular space b.
