Abstract

521,037. Liquid - fuel burners. AKTIEBOLAGET M. SIEVERT. May 26, 1939, No. 15664. Convention date, June 4, 1938. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid fuel atomizing burner suitable for use in preheating vapour burners comprises a valve box 1 adapted to screw into a socket on a fuel container and formed with a conical recess 9 in which a hollow conical end piece 11 on a fuel supply pipe 12 is secured by a threaded sleeve 14. When the valve 4 of the box 1 is turned to open a jet orifice 19 compressed air or gas from the fuel container passes through the annular space 15 between the pipe 12 and sleeve 14 and grooves 17 in the sleeve 14 to grooves 13 in the end-piece 11 and mixes with fuel supplied through apertures 18 to the grooves 13, the mixture being then discharged from the orifice 19 in an atomized condition. The grooves 13 are cut on the end-piece 11 in the direction of a generatrix and the apertures 8 may open into the grooves either at the apex or at a distance from the apex of the cone.
