Abstract
693,266. Liquid fuel burners. ENTERPRISE GENERALE DE CHAUFFAGE INDUSTRIEL PILLIRD FRERES ET CIE. June 18, 1951 [June 26, 1950], No. 14370/51. Class 75(i) Liquid fuel forced out of an annular outlet in a diverging stream is atomized by two streams of atomizing fluid, one outside, the other inside the fuel stream and both directed on to the same part of the fuel stream and the relative deflecting powers of the atomizing streams are varied to vary the divergence of the flame. The burner comprises an outer tube 1, a first inner tube 3 and a second inner tube 6, which tubes define a feed passage 4 and annular outlet 5 for a first stream of atomizing fluid and a feed passage 7 and a diverging annular cutlet 8 for the liquid fuel. A plate 10 is mounted on a stem 9 within the end of the second inner tube 6 and defines with the second inner tube an outlet 12 for the second stream of atomizing fluid. The outlet 5 directs the first stream of atomizing fluid parallel to the axis of the burner and the outlet 12 directs the second stream of atomizing fluid radially. The deflecting powers of the atomizing streams are varied by varying their relative pressures.
