Abstract

656,241. Blowpipe burners. FITZGERALD, J. N., and FITZPATRICK, H. Oct. 30, 1947, No. 28932. [Class 75(i)] In a blow-pipe, blow-lamp or like burner of the type operated by a steam jet issuing from a steam nozzle in which the steam is produced from water flowing in a passage heated by gas, a gas nozzle N, adapted to direct a flame upon a spiral or coiled portion E of the water passage B, is so positioned alongside the steam nozzle J that the steam jet produces the desired blowpipe action. The water supply tube B is of smaller cross-section than the gas tube A and is provided with a restricted orifice at its inlet D to reduce pulsation in the water flow. The apparatus may be constructed as a blow-lamp having a gas pipe connected to the handle and water supplied to the lamp reservoir.
