Abstract

337,787. Pyankow, S. M. Aug. 6, 1929. Spray burners. - In a liquid fuel burner the fuel traverses helical passages in a hollow adjustable member through which passes steam, air or other atomizing fluid. Fig. 1 shows a burner designed to give a circular flame, said burner comprising a casing 1 with a flange 2, and a hollow member 3 longitudinally adjustable in the casing 1 by means of a handwheel 5. Steam or air is admitted at an inlet 7 and flows through a central opening in the member 3 around the outside of which are helical grooves 11 for the passage of fuel, which is supplied under pressure. An additional connection is provided for blowing through and clearing the fuel passages. In a modification the burner is adapted to give a flat flame. In a further modification the burner is adapted to be supplied with preheated gases such as air from chimneys, heating chambers, cupolas or the like as the atomizing medium.
