Abstract
191,092. Grote, L. July 6, 1921. Air and steam pressure sprayers.-A liquidfuel burner comprises an internally tapered barrel having a circular enlargement at its rear end, an air or/and steam injector nozzle arranged ccaxially with and in the rear end of the barrel, means for admitting fuel direct to the barrel enlargement, and means for directing air or/and steam in sharply converging streams on to the main stream of fuel mixture issuing from the barrel. In the form shown in Fig. 2, fuel admitted through an aperture 23 into a circular enlargement or chamber 24 in the tapered bore of the barrel 20 is mixed with air or/and steam supplied through an injector nozzle 26 and with air drawn through tapered apertures 25 in the chamber 24. The fuel mixture, with additional air admitted through inclined and tapered apertures 28, on issuing from the barrel is further mixed with air or/and steam supplied through a sleeve 21 on the barrel. The outlet of the sleeve 21 may consist of a ring of inclined apertures or an inwarly inclined annular orifice 32. The sleeve 21 is provided with a projecting extension 29, by which the burner may be attached to its support. In the form shown in Fig. 11, the injector comprises an outer casing 33 screwing into the barrel enlargement 34 and having tapered fuel apertures 39a, 40a and a flanged air or/and steam nozzle 36 removably fitted in the casing 33. The fuel mixture issuing from the barrel 35 is further mixed with a converging stream of air or/and steam supplied through a sleeve 43 on the barrel and with air drawn through a sleeve 45, which screws on an apertured flange on the sleeve 43.
