Abstract

375,847. Liquid-fuel burners. ESPLIN, P. R., Merricourt, Waverton Avenue, North Sydney, and FIRMAN, A. L., 322, Liverpool Road, Ashfield, both near Sydney, Australia. March 30, 1931, No. 9595. [Class 75 (i).] A liquid fuel burner comprises a union member 26 having threaded inlet orifices 29, 30 for the reception of pipes supplying fuel and compressed air, gas, or steam respectively and threaded recesses 28, 27 for the reception of the screwed ends of fuel and air delivery tubes 22, 4, the tube 4 being formed at the delivery end with an inwardly extending flange which supports the end of the tube 22 and is provided with passages 9 parallel to the axis of the tubes to allow the atomizing agent to pass into an adjustable nozzle 12 having an orifice surrounding the nozzle end 23 of the tube 22. The fuel discharge is regulated by a needle valve 38 passing through a stuffing box 32 and threaded through a cap 35 on the union member 26. Additional air may be supplied to the burner through a tangential inlet 18 on a casing 17 which is threaded on a member 14 mounted between the member 26 and a nut 5 integral with the tube 4. The casing is formed with an internal sleeve 19 and an external nozzle 20. Alternatively the member 14 may be threaded into the front plate of the furnace or stove firebox, the casing being dispensed with.
