Abstract
294,762. McKean, J. G., and Jones, R. F. July 7, 1927. Spray burners.-An improved form of the liquid fuel atomizer described in Specification 201,358 comprises a liquid fuel supply tube 2, an outer tube or casing 3 having an inlet port 8 for compressed air or steam, and an intermediate tube 1 provided with a nozzle 4 having inclined peripheral vanes 5 and tangential slots 7 for communicating a whirling motion to the air or steam as it issues from the annular spaces between the tubes 3, 1 and the tubes 1, 2. The relative proportions of the air or steam issuing from these two spaces can be varied while maintaining the total quantity constant by adjusting the tube 2 axially in the tube 1, the bore of which at its nozzle end is conical. For this purpose the tube 2 may be threaded in the tube 1 or spacing members may be inserted between its carrier bracket 10 and the end wall of the casing 3.
