Abstract

1,140,449. Burners. HOTWORK Ltd. 15 Dec., 1967 [2 Jan., 1967], No. 153/67. Heading F4T. A burner for a furnace in which the combustion air is preheated comprises a block of refractory material 10 having a cavity formed by two cylindrical parts of different diameter, the smaller part 11 constituting a combustion chamber separated from the larger part 13 by a plug 16 serving as a burner head and having fuel supply passages 19 and air supply passages 35. Air for combustion is supplied by a blower to a chamber 27 through an inlet 32 and thence through hollow casing 33 to the plug 16, some of the air passing through a nozzle 44 to create suotion in an annular chamber 26 and draw hot gases from the furnace through a space 22 thus heating casing 33 and the air passing therethrough.
