973,278. Gas burners. DIDIER-WERKE A.G. Feb. 16, 1961 [Feb. 17, 1960], No. 5840/61. Heading F4T. A gas burner for a Cowper heater comprises a refractory lined combustion chamber provided at its base with an air duct 5 and with an annular gas chamber 6, the depth of the gas chamber being less than the length in a corresponding direction of the air duct 5. The gas is supplied by a horizontal duct 12. A projection 8 on the combustion chamber wall directs the gas flow inwardly towards the air flow. The burner is disposed inside the Cowper heater, the gas and air ducts extending through the wall thereof. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the burner is disposed outside the Cowper heater and the gas and air ducts may be offset by 180 degrees.
