1324425 Cupola furnaces D E PIKE and J A GROSS 2 Dec 1970 [3 Dec 1969] 57150/70 Heading F4B A cupola 1 is provided with a charging opening 2 and a gas take-off duct 7 opposite the opening leading to a secondary combustion chamber 8 and an induced draught fan and gas cleaning system (not shown). The fan draws the minimal quantity of air needed for complete combustion through the opening 2 to mix with gases from the bed 3, the mixture being ignited by one or more burners 12 before passing via duct 7 to chamber 8, which may contain further burners, to complete the combustion.
