Abstract
807,176. Supplying air for blast furnaces. ZIMMERMANN & JANSEN G.m.b.H. Nov. 8, 1956 [April 10, 1956], No. 34131/56. Class 51 (2). Apparatus for supplying mixed hot and cold air to a blast furnace H comprises Cowper stoves I, II and III feeding into a common main 4 which is also supplied with cold air through pipe 5, and a mixing chamber 7 supplied with cold air under pressure by a pipe 8 from a main KW. The mixing chamber includes an annular duct 6 of rectangular cross-section formed with radial ports 9 and 10 opening into main 4. Port 10, which is opposite pipe 8, is larger than ports 9 and the mixing chamber has a length approximately equal to the diameter of the main 4. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the duct 6 is set in the wall of the main 4.
