Abstract
834,043. Combustion apparatus; tuyeres. S.P.N.M. SOC. POUR L'EXPLOITATION DE PROCEDES NOUVEAUX METALLURGIQUES. April 12, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 12104/57. Class 51(1). Fluid fuel is introduced into the base of a blast furnace through a blast tube 5 forming part of a water-cooled tuyere 1. A plate 7 which seals the blast tube has an orifice 9 slidably accommodating a fuel delivery tube 10 and atomizing means 11 are placed adjacent the delivery end of the tube. Longitudinal displacement of the latter within the tube 5 as well as the amount of fuel and the corresponding air to be delivered is dependent, via automatic or hand-operated means upon the nozzle temperature of the tuyere, a pyrometer 13 and a thermometer 12 being provided for this purpose. Such a fuel supply tuyere is preferably used in a furnace above the level of the normal blast tuyeres.
