Abstract

1489767 Tuyeres MESSERSCHMITTBOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 28 Oct 1974 [6 Nov 1973] 46571/74 Heading F4B A blast furnace tuyere 3 in which combustion of a supplementary fuel takes place in order to vary the depth of penetration of the blast into the furnace comprises a spiral fuel atomizer 8 at the entrance to a widened combustion chamber 10 and additional fuel nozzles 9 in the delivery nozzle. The combustion chamber has a perforated heat shield 11 with cooling water channels 12 in the delivery nozzle. In a modification (Fig. 2) the tuyere has the same diameter throughout including the combustion zone which has a pair of fuel distributers arranged axially in front of it.
