Abstract

1323757 Spray producers NIPPON KOKAN KK 13 Aug 1970 [1 Dec 1969] 39009/70 Heading B2F [Also in Division C7] Hot metals are cooled by a spray formed by injecting a relatively small amount of liquid into a relatively large gas stream (e.g. mass ratio 1:5) and accelerating the two-phase stream through a nozzle. As illustrated gas reservoir (12) supplies nozzle 13 having a slit orifice 14, while water is introduced at 16. Nozzle 13 has substantially the same length as the diameter of the reservoir; it may have an elongated orifice for cooling plate, or the reservoir may supply a number of parallel nozzles; for cooling tube an annular nozzle 23, or an annular arrangement of radial nozzles 23' may be used.
