Abstract
1471433 Fuel injection into blast furnaces; liquid fuel burners ACIERIES REUNIES DE BURBACH - EICH - DUDELANGE SA 3 May 1974 [4 May 1973] 19648/74 Headings F4B and F4T [Also in Division C7] In a process for the injection of liquid fuel into a blast furnace, the fuel is injected in the region of the outlet of the blast pipe or the inlet of the. tuyere through atomizers 13 in the wall of the combustion head 2 and jets of oxygen are injected from outlets 23 upstream of the atomizers in the same combustion head. A conventional liquid fuel burner 6 may supply fuel through the centre of the tuyere. Mechanical guides may be fitted to the tuyere to intensify the mixing of the hot blast with the fuel and oxygen. The wall of the tuyere may be protected by a coating of refractory material in the zones most affected thermally.
