Abstract
1284309 Gas or liquid fuel burners UNION CARBIDE CORP 16 Dec 1969 [17 Dec 1968] 61123/69 Heading F4T [Also in Division C7] A burner for producing a flame containing molten or semi-molten particles for improving heat transfer includes a conduit 12 for a suspension of the particles in a liquid fuel, the conduit communicating through passage 14 with swirl chamber 16 which discharges through orifice 18 into throat 20. Oxygen is supplied through passage 22 and vanes 24 to the throat while coolant is passed through passages 11, 13, 15, 17. The burner is used for melting charges of scrap metal.
