Abstract

1,274,074. Blast furnace tuyeres. KOLSCHFOLZER-WERKE A.G. 6 Sept., 1969, No. 44193/69. Heading F4B. The circulation of water or other coolant in a blast furnace tuyere 1 is improved by the introduction of a hollow annular baffle 5 into which water is supplied by inlet pipe 3 escaping through a slot (5a, Fig. 3) near heading formed on the inner baffle wall into the space 9 between said baffle and the tuyere walls. A resilient flange 7 and distance pieces 8 locate the baffle and both baffle and tuyere taper towards the nose. The water is discharged via a space 12 and outlet pipe 4. The inner surface of the tuyere particularly near the nose may be formed with ribs (1a, Figs. 4 and 5) to improve heat transfer.
