Abstract
879,613. Hot-blast stoves. KOPPERS CO. Inc. Sept. 8, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 30647/59. Class 64(1) In a hot-blast stove, a conduit which carries a mixture of fuel gas and combustion air to the burner 29 and which incorporates a burner shut-off valve 19 for use when air is being heated in the stove, includes an angularly bent portion 37 which may have a cooling water jacket 40 (Fig. 4, not shown), or a refractory lining, and which is interposed between the burner and the shut-off valve so that the latter valve is not subjected to direct radiation from the hot surface 13a of the combustion chamber 13. In the form shown combustion air is supplied by a fan 22 and fuel gas is introduced into the air stream from a valve controlled conduit 27. The elbow 37 may incorporate an inspection port 50 for inspecting the flame and through which a flame ignitor torch may be inserted.
